ProService Recognized as Hawaii Business magazine’s Best Places to Work for 2022

For the 16th consecutive year, ProService was named a “Best Place to Work” by Hawaii Business Magazine. This great honor is extra meaningful as it comes at a time following significant pandemic disruptions, pivots, and changes, and when people everywhere are re-thinking where, how, and why they work.

While perks and benefits are usually the first things that come to mind as elements of a “best place to work,” diving a little deeper you can find a few more common threads amongst employers of choice. In 2022, employees' (especially Hawaii employees) expectations of their employer go beyond an attractive benefits package. Here are three ingredients to build a positive work environment and create a workplace of choice:

Lead with values and purpose

Employees expect their organization to make good decisions that have not only a positive outcome on profits, but the community as a whole. Especially in Hawaii, we have a culture of taking care of each other and our environment, so it's vital that business products and services contribute to leaving our islands a better place for the next generation.

Excellent internal communication

Employees should not find out about important company announcements from the news but should hear them internally first. Having consistent internal communication builds trust and transparency – must-haves for positive company culture. Communication is also a two way-stream and colleagues should feel comfortable approaching leadership through various internal channels to share thoughts or concerns.

A culture of fairness

Healthy workplace culture depends on fairness and justice. When employees feel that they are treated fairly in areas like salary, opportunities, and promotions, it creates a better environment and encourages retention. Doing a fairness audit and making fairness a top priority is not only a key to retaining diverse talent, but it’s the right thing to do.
